An excellent season opener with a resounding 4-1 defeat of local rivals Bluntisham. In an opener first half both sides created chances and 1-1 was a fair reflection of the half. However, Somersham opened the second half brilliantly and deservedly scored two well worked goals in quick succesion. Bluntisham reacted by throwing the 'Kitchen Sink' at us but came up against an inspired Gibbs in goal and a defence superbly marshalled by Wilson. Zovaj's second goal clinched the points with five minutes remaining and Somersham had finally ended a barren of defeats againsts 'the Old rival'. An excellent all-round performance which combined a high tempo pass and move style attack with a gritty resilence in midfield and defence. Special note of thanks to the groundstaff for an excellent playing surface.
Verdict: Highly encouraging. 9/10
League vs Godmanchester (away)

Subs not used: Tyers, Hoy, Wallace(B). Goalscorers: O.G, Hall.
MOM: Boon.
Another comfortable victory against a determined Godmanchester side. This was not a game for the purist mainly due to the condition of the pitch but both sides fought hard during a scrappy first half. The second half was a lot better from somersham and they gradually began to dominate. The defence looked assured and the midfield began to get the ball down and pas. An own goal and a good finish by Hall were enough to bag all three points. A comfortable and patient performance and an encoraging debut from Barratt, recently signed from Bluntisham.
Verdict: Solid and assured. 8/10
League vs Gamlingay (home)
HT: 1-0 FT: 1-0
Gibbs, Wallace(N), Wilson, Boon, Adu-Bonsra(Zovaj), Church, Barratt, Sanford, Talton, Hall(Smith), Kay.
Subs not used: Hoy, Wallace(B). Goalscorers: O.G
MOM: Kay
The Stiffs winning start to the season was stretched with this convincing victory. On an excellent playing surface Somersham dominated much of the first half with their crisp passing stlye prooving too much for the oposition. Unfortunately an own goal was all Somersham had to show for thier efforts. The second half continued much like the first but Somersham continued to be frustrated by a Gamlingay side that, despite only creating two chances battled until the end. Overall this was a comfortable victory but we will have to be more clinical in the last third of the pitch if we are to 'Kill off teams'.
Verdict: Very good performance and three more points. 8/10
