| Somersham triumphant in 1 v 0 victory over St Neots in the Hunts Senior Cup Final. |
Somersham started the match as underdogs and won the battle of hearts and minds over St Neots. Man for man Town never gave an inch and thoroughly deserved their win in this centenary year. The defence marshalled by Martyn Ray were magnificant, with St Neots creating hardly any goal scoring opportunities. Somersham came close to scoring in the first half when Carl Osborn hit a rasping drive only for Ben Webster in the St Neots goal to make an outstanding save; this was to be one of many on the night.

In the second half St Neots took hold of the game but even with sustained pressure they created only one good effort on goal which Barry Smith saved at the near post. Somersham came back into the game and started to look dangerous on the right. It was through this outlet that Somersham got the breakthrough. Mike Egan took on the full back and cut the ball back for Jamie Donald who was felled by a St Neots defender. The referee awarded Somersham a penalty. Donald took the spot kick and buried it in the top corner of the net this put Somersham ahead. Town pressed on for another goal and looked certain to get their second as a result of another cross from the right, which Donald met and hit on the volley only for Webster to make a point blank save. Shortly after Donald was through on the keeper and should have squared the ball to Egan but elected to go on his own which produced another save from Webster. The pressure was relentless and surely Somersham were going to get the second goal to finish the match. With time running out for St Neots they pushed every man forward to grab a late equaliser but the Somersham eleven defended like demons and kept them out. The referee finally blew his whistle after 8 minutes of injury time and Somersham took the Cup back to the West End.
Final Score 1 v 0
